Shengliver’s Note: A food vendor’s act of kindness touched two tender hearts. Should Shengliver help spread the good name?

 

Yesterday evening after school, I went home with Xiaxia. After attending all the lessons and poring over academic riddles, we felt totally spent.

So ravenous were we that we decided to have a meal right away at a food court behind my tower block rather than go home and cook on our own. The venue hosts stalls serving various specialities from around the country. It is so popular with residents from around the neighbourhood that a lot of families have their breakfasts there.

As soon as we stepped into the food court, many different meals greet our eyes. After a while, Xiaxia picked a bowl of beef noodles as I did at a stall. As we were ordering, we became aware that we only had 23 yuan on us, but one bowl of beef noodles costs 12 yuan. To our relief, the food vendor said he would serve us two helpings for 23. Amazed, we were grateful for his generosity.

While the meals were being prepared on the stove, the vendor asked us patiently what flavours we liked and what vegetables we would prefer to go with the noodles. We were more than satisfied with his attitude to his customers. Very few food vendors we had met before paid attention to such details. We thought it was very kind of him to do so much for us.

After the tasty meal, I felt full and contented. My heart, as well as my tummy, was filled with warmth.
