3 Meals for 1

When you are ill and someone cares about you, you will feel warm.

One morning last week I was suffering from a persistent stomach-ache. For breakfast I ate very little. I was sick the entire morning. During the break, I went to the clinic and got some medicine for the complaint. So uncomfortable and drowsy did I feel that I did not want to stir a bit. When the last morning class ended, my classmates rushed to the canteen. Someone saw me all over the desk and kindly reminded me it was lunchtime. I said I had no appetite.

About ten minutes later, one of my classmates came back from the canteen, with a hamburger for me. Unwell, I did not even have the strength to say thanks and continued to sleep. Pretty soon another classmate returned with a hamburger for me. That was not the end. A third classmate, considering my weak stomach, brought me a cup of porridge from the canteen. They all asked me to eat some, but I was simply too weak for any meal.

In the afternoon when I woke up, the three meals on my desk greeted my eye, reminding me of what my classmates had done. I was so moved. I had not asked any of them to help. Yet I ended up with 3 meals for 1.

Unluckily in the evening I started to run a fever, so I had no alternative but to go to the community clinic across from the school for treatment. Some of my classmates volunteered to accompany me on the trip.

Looking back, I am touched by their care and consideration. Now I have shaken off my condition. I still appreciate all the generosity showered on me by my classmates. Thanks so much.
