Shengliver’s Note: A good parent rears a good child. As a father or a mother, do you follow the herd? Do you have your own ideas about parenting your offspring?
We have been at school for more than three months this term. Our life has been hectic and difficult. I have realised that because of the present lifestyle, even a simple thing like a pleasant tune on the Broadcast System can please us. In primary school, we often complained that a two-day weekend was so short that we could not do very much. In contrast, now a cancelled exam on Saturday evening makes us feel as if we were celebrating the Spring Festival.

A Chinese student’s life is such a bore. In my childhood, rarely did I play football or basketball. I spent tons of time on computer games and homework. Now my younger brother is in primary school. Every day when he is back home from school, the first thing he does is homework because it is my mother’s order. On the weekend, instead of going outdoors or hanging out with his pals, he games on his smartphone or on the PC. His childhood, in my opinion, is no more fun than mine.
When I have my own child in the future, I will have different ideas about his childhood. If I have a boy, I will make sure that he plays soccer with his friends every day. He might be able to make the national soccer team. He might help the team to qualify for the World Cup. Should I have a girl, I will have no idea what she should do, but I am sure her mother will know it.
Grades are not what really matters, to be honest. A colourful, concrete and enjoyable lifestyle can benefit a child a lot.
What do you think, my reader?
