THE SAME SCHEDULE

I have a friend called Jiang. Jiang is an outgoing girl. We were in the same primary school. Now I am in YYHS; she in the City High.

Our two families live in the same tower block. Sometimes we can meet when waiting for the lifts after evening classes. We chat with each other about school life, exams, holidays and so on. This way I have learned a lot about their life in the City High School.

One evening I was on the way home when I saw Jiang walking ahead. I caught up and patted her on the shoulder. But she seemed to be angry to see me. She turned to me and said, “It’s all your guys’ fault!” Puzzled I stared at her. She explained that her school leaders decided to start the first morning class half an hour earlier because my school’s first class starts at 6.15 am. Worse still they would have holiday plans just like ours. They would have a break every two weeks instead of every week. She complained loudly, “It’s all your school’s fault.”

I was excited at the news, because that way we would meet more on the way to and from school.

A few days later, however, when I met Jiang again, she said that their leaders’ decision to change met strong opposition from the students. In the end the new schedule was abandoned.
