If We Want Light

Shengliver’s Note: Yaxin the teen writer is a fighter.

Life can let you down sometimes, in particular when you have tried your best but it does not pay off.

At such moments, we should persist and be prepared to meet the challenges. With iron resolve and preparedness, chances are we can overcome the difficulties that come in our way. Everything will turn out fine. If we want light, we must embrace darkness first. Right now, we have to dispel the mist which obscures the way upward.

Sometimes along the three-year journey, I get so tired that I am ready to call it quits. The moment the thought arises, I think of my idol, an actress called Yang Mi. She is industrious. Before she made a name for herself, it was not unusual for her to rehearse until 3 am. It is reported that there was a time when she had roles to play simultaneously in three shows, Gong, Hong Lou Meng, and Xian Jian 3. Consequently, she slept about 10 hours in total over a span of three months. Hard to believe, isn’t it? There was a day during which she collapsed 3 times. Her steely will, rather than her good looks, impresses me. Anytime Yang Mi pops up in my mind’s eye, nothing in my schoolwork becomes unbeatable. Then I will psyche myself up and fight on.

I won’t give up whatever obstacles might crop up ahead or however lousy my grades might be currently. I will grit my teeth and press ahead, until the very last minute, like a gritty footballer in a gruelling soccer game. No rain, no rainbow, as the proverb goes.
