Shengliver’s Note: The father died of a heart attack.
Shengliver, you asked me why I was transferred from Shandong to YYHS, Hubei. Let me tell you why. I moved to the new province here and changed schools because a misfortune had struck my family back in my hometown.
One weekend last year I was home from school. I was fast asleep during the night when I was roused by Mother. She was pounding my door like crazy, crying, “Help! Help! What’s the matter with your dad?”

I shot out of bed in alarm and rushed to their room. I saw Dad’s eyes dead shut and his breathing laboured. My dad must be ill! Without delay, I dialled 120 and got some neighbours up for help. Unfortunately, it took ages for the ambulance to finally reach our village, located in a remote corner of the county. My dad passed away at the local hospital that very night. My mother, my elder sister, and I couldn’t have been sadder. The grief consumed us all.
After the funeral, my elder sister and my cousin did not want Mother and me to live in the gloomy place any longer. If I went back to school, Mother would be left all alone in the house. It would be too much for her. Therefore, they had me transferred from the high school in my hometown to Shiyan, where they are employed.
I love my father and couldn’t miss him more, but in no way can I ever let him know it.
